Update 4 Dec 2025 Estimate trip costs based on current quotes from ground operators, and subject to changes for significant increases to fuel prices and exchange rates in 2026. Due to the walking nature of trip, group size is limited to 15 pax and will be based on the ones who pays in the deposit first. Trip date is timed to coincide with annual Tbilisoba festival in the capital city which is scheduled normally for the 1st weekend of OctoberIMPORTANT NOTICE: This is meant to be a "free and easy" adventure trip. Participants should be relatively fit, with a good sense of humor, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fussy-pots, and other similarly assorted types! We had a couple of those before and it wasn't pleasant for us or them. Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun !
Koruldi Lakes at Mestia / Beautiful Mestia town with its fortresses
Georgia is home to a long history of wine-making and with one third of the country covered with mountains, it is haven for those who love nature and walking.This trip includes several day hikes around Tusheti National Park and Mestia region - members should be relatively fit to enjoy the trip. Care will be taken to follow itinerary as stated. Hiking activities are still subject to weather conditions, and we may swap hiking areas dependant on weather for safety issues.
We will charter our own minibus and 4WD smaller vehicles throughout our journey across Georgia. We stay in budget hotels and local guesthouses in rooms with private bath ranging from 2 to 4 pax sharing room. It is quite important participants are able to manage their own luggage and we highly recommend backpacks or small/medium trolley bags. (IMPT - large 28 inch trolley bags are NOT allowed) As usual, you pay for your own meals, entrance fees, within-the-town taxis/metros and other activities, unless stated otherwise.

Day 1 KLIA / Tbilisi : Assemble at KLIA early morning 6:30AM on 18 SEPT 2026 FRI for Qatar Airways QR845 departing 9:30 AM (flight 7hr 5min) arriving Doha 11:35AM. Transit about 4hr. Reconnect on QR253 leaving 3:50PM, arriving Tbilisi at 8:10 PM. From Tbilisi Airport, we meet our local guide and transfer to our hotel in the capital city. Overnight (O/N) budget hotel for next 2 days with breakfasts included.
Day 2 Tbilisi (B): Tbilisi is the capital city of Georgia with about 1million inhabitants. After breakfast, join our local guide for a walking tour around Tbilisi which will cover the old town and major monuments. Afternoon free & easy to explore further on own. Being the capital city, Tbilisi is home to many restaurants for own lunch and dinner today. Stay 2nd night in Tbilisi.
Day 3 Tusheti NP (B/D): We meet our 4WD vehicles for the long journey towards Upper Omalo, our base for the next 4 nights inside Tusheti National Park (NP). Along the mountainous drive, we will have several stops for photos and rests. Enjoy own packed lunch enroute. We will arrive at our local guesthouse by late afternoon. Stay here for next 4 nights with most meals covered.
Day 4 Tusheti NP (B/L/D: Drive about 15km towards Pirikiti Valley. From here, we will walk to the following villages for about 4-5hr – Dartlo (1,900m asl), Dano and Kvavlo. Dartlo is probably one of the most beautiful villages in Georgia with its rustic stone-slated roofs. Stay 2nd night in Upper Omalo
Day 5 Tusheti NP (B/L/D: Drive about 18km to Gometsari Valley. From here we head up to Bochorma (2,345m asl), one of the highest village in Georgia and in European region. With so few inhabitants left at Borchorma, one of the famous resident here has been featured in a movie called “Irakli’s Lantern”. We will hike from nearby Borchorma on a loop walk for about 5 to 6 hours. Stay 3rd night in Upper Omalo
Day 6 Tusheti NP (B/L/D: Drive about 12km to Shenako (2,070m asl). There is an old St George’s church at Shenako. From here we walk towards village of Diklo (2,020m asl) and the old fortress. Being close to Republic of Dagestan (Russian Federation), there will be some paperwork formalities to comply for security purposes. Visible here is Mount Diklo with a summit of 4,285m. Walking hours: 4 to 5hr about 10km. Stay 4th night in Upper Omalo

Day hikes around Tusheti National Park to explore old villages
Day 7 Katheti & Tbilisi (B/L):We drive back to the capital city of Tbilisi with packed lunch along the way. This time our drive back brings us towards Kakheti, famed for its wine-making. Great chance to see the wine production process and taste some of Georgian best wines at a winery at Kindzmarauli (optional wine tour and tasting at own costs). Along the way, we will stop at Abano Pass 2926m for great views of the surrounding mountains. Return to Tbilisi hotel for 1 night stay.
Day 8 Kutaisi (B): After breakfast, our chartered minibus takes us 25km north towards Mtskheta, one of the oldest town, cultural & religious center of Georgia. It was the capital of the Eastern Georgian Kingdom from the 3rd century BC to 5th century AD. Historic churches here are listed under UNESCO protection. We visit Jvari Church, 6th century orthodox church which has survived largely unchanged till todate. We will also cover Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the main church of Mtskheta from 11th century and a sacred place where the robe of Christ is being kept. Being the birthplace of Christianity in Georgia, Mtskheta has been declared as a Holy City by the Georgian Orthodox Church. We then drive about 200km north west towards Kutaisi, Georgia’s 2nd largest city. O/N guesthouse for next 2 nights with breakfasts provided.
Day 9 Kutaisi (B): Drive about 1 hr towards Okatse Canyon. Walk about 5.5km along footpath through the Dadiani forest park towards the start of the suspension bridge 780m in length. Option to take regular taxi for this footpath section. Okatse Canyon entrance fee and optional taxi ride at own costs. On the way back to Kutaisi, we have a stop at Tsalkubo which is home to more than 2,000 natural springs. During its heyday, Tskaltubo town with its many sanatoriums welcomed thousands of Soviet visitors through its doors seeking rest and healing. Nowadays, the crumbling Soviet style buildings are slowly being revived with the growth in tourism numbers. 2nd night in Kutaisi
Day 10 Mestia (B/D): Long scenic mountain drive 5-6hours north towards Mestia, located in the Svaneti mountains. At an elevation of 1,500m, this will be our cool base for the next 4 nights. Mestia is the capital of the Svaneti region, and home to the Svans – group of mountain people with own language and cultural identity. O/N in local guesthouse with breakfasts and dinners provided for.
Day 11 Mestia (B/D): Short drive towards the trail start for Chalaadi Glaciar at Mestiachala Valley. The walk towards the Chalaadi Glacier takes about 3km towards the foot of the glacier through pine forest. In the afternoon, we drive about 6km towards Heshkili. Located at 1,900m asl, Heshkili is on the route towards the mountain ski resort of Hatsvali. Heshkili is famous for its small old huts, swing of Heshkili and captivating mountainscape. Return to Mestia for 2nd night stay.

Exploring Okatse Canyon over metal walkways / Hiking towards Chalaadi Glacier wall faceDay 12 Mestia (B/D): We use 4WD vehicles to climb along mountain roads towards Koruldi Lakes at 2,740m. From here, choices abound to hike further up to Koruldi Ridge for more majestic mountain peak views. Return to Mestia for 3rd night stay.
Day 13 Mestia (B/D): We head about 47 km east towards Ushguli. At 2,200m, it is one of the highest continuously inhabited settlements in Europe and protected under UNESCO. We have a walk around this medieval village to admire the famous Svan towers, fortifications and churches. Ushguli is located on the slopes of Mount Shkara, which is Georgia’s highest peak at 5,201m. Return to Mestia for 4th final night stay.
Day 14 Kutaisi (B/D): We return to Kutaisi using a different route heading towards Zugdidi. Here we visit Dadiani Palace which now houses a Historal & Architectural Museum. Main structure dates from 17th century, with restorations works from 1860s. Time permitting, we can stop at hot springs place of Betlemi and photo stop at Nokalakavevi city ruins (Archaeopolis). We finish our day at Kutaisi Agro guesthouse with home-cooked meal and folk performances. O/N Agro guesthouse
Day 15 Borjomi & Vardzia (B/D): Drive about 130km towards Borjomi, which is home to hydrothermal spa resorts and its famous sulphuric mineral waters. Stroll around Borjomi Central Park and enjoy own lunch amongst the garden. Borjomi entrance fee at own costs. Another 110km south towards Vardzia, with stops along the way including Saro megalithic fortress. We finish the day at a farmhouse homestay to enjoy more rural hospitality. O/N basic farmstay.
Day 16 Tbilisi (B): Morning is spent exploring the Vardzia Caves Monastery from the 12th century. The massive man-made caves were developed from a rock wall and designed to be a self-sufficient city instead of just a shelter from enemies. At its heyday, there were records of up to 6,000 rooms spread across 19 levels and home to 2,000 monks. A 1283 earthquake destroyed up to 70% of the complex and diminished its importance from 16th century onwards. Vardzia caves entrance fee at own costs. After own lunch, final drive about 225km eastwards bring us back to capital city of Tbilisi for final night stay. This time we will drive through the southern plateau passing by several scenic lakes. Stay in budget hotel for 1 night.
Day 17 Tbilisi - Plane 4 Oct (B): Free morning to explore Tbilisi on own. If no changes, the capital city will play host to their annual Tbilisoba cultural festival over the weekend. Our minibus takes us to the airport for our afternoon flight Qatar Airways QR256 leaving 2:10PM towards Doha, arriving 4:25PM. Flight time 3hr 15min. Transit in Doha for 2hr 55min. Reconnect on QR844 departing 7:20 PM (flight time 7hr 35min) arriving KLIA early next morning.
Day 19 Home: Arrive KLIA early morning on 5 OCT 2026 MONDAY 7:55AM

- Accommodations will be in doubles, triples or quads with private bath as stated above, in budget hotels and guesthouses. Meals are provided with accommodation in the places mentioned above.
- Not covered are return flight fares & airport taxes, own meals (USD12 x 18 meals = USD216), entrance fees or cable-cars rides. In-town trams and metro are not covered unless mentioned above. Qatar return fares online as at 4 Dec 2025 is RM2,910.
