Update 7 Aug 2018 There are 5 domestic flights and members top up if higher OR receives fare difference if lower. Please be aware that accommodation, transport and meals in Chile, Argentina & Brazil are very expenisive, Also take note inflation, especially in Argentina is very high. Stated below are estimate for entrance fees based on actual spent in March 2018. Members top up any difference.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is meant to be a "free and easy" adventure trip. Participants should be relatively fit, with a good sense of humor, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fuss-pots, and other similarly assorted types! We had a couple of those before and it wasn't pleasant for us or them. Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun.

El Chalten 
Mountainscape at El Chalten / Perito Moreno Glacier width 5km length 30km    

This will be a small group backpack trip using 5 domestic flights, local buses and airport taxis. We stay in good clean guesthouses. It is essential that members travel light as some of the domestic flights have 15 kilos check in baggage limit. Participants must be able to manage their own luggage and light medium trolleys are acceptable. Like most Yongo trips, you pay for your own meals. We have included most of the main entrance fees on this trip. Tours/entrances not mentioned below will be payable by members. You also pay within-the-town taxis and other activities not specifed below.

Day 1 KLIA to Amsterdam. Gather by 830PM SUN 10 MAR 2019 for KLM flight KL810 to Amsterdam departing 1150PM.

Day 2 Rio deJaneiro Arrive after 12:40hr flight in Amsterdam at 5:55AM. Connect to KL705 to Rio de Janiero (GIG) from 1040am to 1835pm. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight (O/N) Rio de Janeiro.

Day 3 Favela Tour & Ipanema/Copacabana Beach. We have a half day conducted tour of a hill Favela (slum), to understand a little, of the culture and people in Rio. Rest of the day free to explore Ipanema & Copacabana beaches. These are the perfect places for watching locals enjoying the beach, and there are also good short walks along the rocky coastline popular for watching sunset. O/N Rio. (Favela Tour and local bus tickets is covered).

Day 4 Sugarloaf & Christ the Redeemer. We take public bus to Pao de Azucar or Sugarloaf for scenic views of the city and shorelines. Enjoy cable car rides up to the summit of 400m. After that, we continue by public bus to Cosme Velho where we take the classic train ride up to summit of Corcovado 704m where the iconic 30m Christ the Redeemer stands. Option to visit colourful Selaron Steps and nearby Lapa Arches (disused Portuguese water aquaduct). ON Rio. (Local Bus Metro tickets for 3 days in Rio covered. Entrance n train up Christ the Redeemer BRL70 and Cable car up Sugarloaf BRL80 are both covered).

Day 5 Fox Iguacu Brazil. Early monring flight 2hr into Brazil Iguazu Falls Airport, 15 min away from the Park Entrance. We store our luggage at the Park and visit until early afternoon. Time permitting we also visit the nearby Parque das Aves Bird Park, home to many colourful birds and plants. We hire taxis to take us across the border into Puerto Iguazu Argentina, about 20km 2hr including immigration. O/N Puerto Iguazu Argentina. (Iguacu Park Entrance BRL64, Bird Park entrance BRL45, baggage lockers and transfers is covered).

Day 6 Fly Puerto Iguazu - Buenos Aires. We check out and bus/taxi 18km 30min to Iguazu National Park Argentina. We leave our luggage at the entrance before exploring the full day at Iguazu Falls to enjoy many scenic spots by walking and also short tram ride. Late afternoon we taxi to Cataratas International Airport 9km 15min for our 2hr flight to Buenos Aires. O/N Buenos Aires for the next 3 nights. (Iguazu Park entrance ARS500, baggage lockers and all transport cost is covered).

Day 7 La Boca & Caminito. We take public bus to La Boca, home to the colourful Caminito Calle. It is a photogenic area with narrow alleys flanked by brightly painted zinc shacks that evoke the district's early immigrant days. La Bombonera is the home stadium of Boca Juniors football team. Maradona played his first football here. Tango dances are performed on the street sides at no charge for visitors but tips are appreciated. After lunch, head over to the famous Cementerio La Recoleta. Being the city's first cemetery, it is now home to many of the country's leading personalities - including Eva Peron, known affectionately as Evita.. O/N Buenos Aires. (Return bus fares city to La Boca included)

Day 8 Buenos Aires SUN..This cosmopolitan capital of Argentina feels more European than Latin America due to the many Italian immigrants who settled here. We stay in centrally located part with many surrounding restaurants and shops. We walked over to nearby San Telmo to enjoy its vibrant Sunday market. Besides shopping, San Telmo is also a good place to enjoy some free tango and music entertainment, tips most welcome. O/N Buenos Aires..

Day 9 Fly Ushuaia. We take very early morning flight to Ushuaia 0435 0810 to maximise our time here. Ushuaia is the jumping off holiday town for Antartica Cruises and also known as the 'End of the World'. Time permitting, members can opt for one of many boat tours along the Beagle Channel starting 3PM. O/N Ushuaia. (Cost of the 5hr Boat Tour in March 2018 was ARS1700 Rm255 at own expense).

Day 10 Terra del Fuego National Park. Full day at Terra del Fuego national park for many hiking options. The spanish name translates to 'Land of Fire', this national park is unique being the only park in Argentina where mountains and woods meet the sea. We bus into the National Park with a regular shuttle and walk to the many scenic viewing points. We return to Ushuaia by early afternoon to spend some time wandering about the resort town of Ushuaia. O/N Ushuaia. (Return bus transport into the Park ARS400 and entrance fees ARS350 are covered).

Day 11 El Chalten. We fly first to El Calafate 0900 1020. We use chartered transport to travel north to El Chalten 200km 3hr. Rest of stay free to relax and enjoy the views of Mount Fitz Roy jagged peaks. O/N El Chalten.

Day 12 El Chalten HIking. We begin our full day hike around national park in El Chalten. The most popular trail takes hikers to view Cerro Fitz Roy (3,405m) and its majestic glaciar lakes of Laguna de los tres. The walk is 12.5km one way and estimate to take 4hr. Another trail heads to Cerro Torre which summits at 3,102m. We regroup for our evening bus 3hr back to El Calafate. O/N El Calafate for next 2 nights.

Day 13 Perito Moreno Glacier. El Calafate is the gateway to the Los Glaciares National Park. We spend most of the day exploring the majestic Perito Moreno glaciar located 80km or 1.5hr from El Calafate. The huge glaciar is believed to be the 3rd largest fresh water reserve in the world. We bus starts at 830AM and depart from the park at 230PM. Group will have a full day at the Park and packed lunch is suggested. There are proper walkways to many viewing spots. Optional boat trips to get nearer to the Glacier are available at ARS500 Rm75. We arrive El Calafate by 4pm and have rest of afternoon free & easy. O/N El Calafate. (Return Bus fare to Perito Moreno is covered. NP Entrance ARS500 is also covered).

Day 14 Puerto Natales (Chile). We take the morning bus 6hr to Puerto Natales crossing into Chile Patagonia. It is the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park. Free rest of day to Free rest of day to wander this small pretty town overlooking the Señoret Channel. This small town was founded back in 1911 for sheep ranching. O/N Puerto Natales Chile.

Day 15 Torres Del Paine National Park A full day bus tour of Chile's Patagonia region, known for its soaring mountains, high glaciers and golden pampas (grasslands). View the iconic three granite towers which gives the park its name (Towers of Paine). Tour includes a short trek to Lake Grey, fed by the massive Glaciar Grey. Back to Puerto Natales for second night. (Tour cost CLP35,000 and Park entrance fees CLP21,000 is covered. Other entrances not covered).

Day 16 Fly to Santiago. We first bus 230km 3hr to Punta Arenas Airport, for noon flight 3:30hr to Santiago, capital of Chile, which was established by the Spanish in 1541. Group stays in a centrally located hotel with good Metro access and near to the main town square. O/N Santiago.

Day 17 Valparaiso Day Trip. It is about 1hr 40min by convenient public bus to Valparaiso, a UNESCO listed port city. Valparaiso is known for its steep old, still-in-use funiculars and colourful houses built around its many hills. We have a guided 2 hour walking tour to discover the many hidden gems around this bohemian town. Return to Santiago by late afternoon for our 2nd night stay. O/N Santiago.

Day 18 Fly home. 9am transfer to Santiago Airport for flight KL702 to Amsterdam departing 1245 noon.

Day 19 Amsterdam Arrive in Amsterdam at 1000am. Tansit 8hr before flight KL809 to KUL departing at 8:50PM. ON plane.

Day 20 KLIA Arrive home 2:50PM FRI 29 MAR 2019 after 12hr flight.

  1. Cost cover Yongo trip leader, accommodation, airport transfers, town-to-town travel and tours specified in the itinerary as included.
  2. Cost cover 5 domestic flight tickets. Rm3500 per pax is collected and any excess will be given back to member. Any shortfall, members top up.
  3. Accommodations will be in guesthouses and budget hotels.
  4. Not covered are KLM group international flights (all in fare about Rm6,000),
  5. Not covered are meals estimate Rm120 x 18 days = Rm2160, and any entrances which are not specified above.
  6. In town taxis are not covered except for transfers to and from bus stations to our place of stay.
  7. Cost is subject to change depending on fluctuations in exchange rates and/or airfares.
  8. A total deposit of Rm6500 (Rm3000 trip deposit n Rm3500 domestic tickets deposit) will be payable to confirm your place.
