Update 9 Jan 2013 This 3 days trip is available for almost anytime of the year, as long as we can form a min group of 10 pax. Current promo fare today all in is Rm411 compared to Normal fare Rm511. We can also include a 4D3N Kinabatangan Homestay, Sepilok Orang Hutan and finish off in Sandakan if we have a min 10 pax group. We opt not to offer Sipdan Island because of the high cost for a couple of hours on the island, about Rm540 per person including Island Permit. Anyone or any group interested in forming another trip, do contact us with your preferred dates.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
This is meant to be a "free and easy" budget trip. Participants should be relatively fit with a good sense of humour, and above all, have the right attitude for close travel with others through possibly some trying times. Most definitely, this is not a trip for prudes, whiners, fuss-pots, and other similiarly assorted types! Although every effort will be made to stick to the given itinerary, ground conditions may change and cause some disruption and/or deviation from the norm. Otherwise, have fun!

 
Kapalai Atoll / Mabul Island

This is a snorkeling trip to enjoy three beautiful islands of Mabul, Kapalai, Timba Timba & Mataking. Note that accommodation in Mabul Island is in simple guesthouse that includes lunch, dinner and breakfast.

Day 1 KL to Semporna: There are three daily flights to Tawau. We depart at 720am arriving at 10AM in Tawau. We van/taxi to our accommodation in Semporna 1hr. We wander about the Bajau Vilage, local market and town area before lunch at one of the many sea-food places in town. At about 230PM, we boat to Mabul Island 1.5hr with a stop at a seaweed farm located in the open seas. Overnight Mabul Guesthouse includes dinner and simple breakfast.

Day 2 Kapalai & Mabul Islands: After breakfast, we head for Kapalai Island, or more appropirately Kapalai Atoll, some 12 minutes away. There's only one small resort, which is built completely on stilts.. It has the best snorkeling site of all the three islands visited with abundance of marine life. We return to Mabul for lunch and to more snorkeling either back at Kapalai or around Mabul Island. The Bajau (sea dayak) fishing village is worth a short walkabout. We finish the day waiting for the beautiful sunset. Overnight in Guesthouse on Mabul Island. Lunch, Dinner and Breakfast included in trip cost.

Day 3 Mataking Island and back to Semporna: After breakfast we boat 1.5hr to Mataking Island that has one of the better snorkeling areas. Nearby is the small island of Timba Timba reputed to be another good snorkeling area. We have a buffet lunch (included in trip cost) on Mataking Island only resort, after which it's more snorkeling. We return to Semporna in the early afternoon, arriving around 4PM for the Tawau Airport transfer for our flight home at 7PM. THOSE EXTENDING WILL STAY BACK A NIGHT IN SEMPORNA.

Day 4 Miso Walai Homestay & Kinabatangan River Cruise: We go by Express Bus 730AM 3.5hr to Batu Putih Village, located on the Kinabatangan River. Under WWF sponsered Mescot (Model Ecologically Sustainable Community Tourism Project) , we homestay in the local village houses, experiencing the way of life of the Orang Sungai. Here we also go on a 2hr river safari into the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve to view the famous proboscis monkeys and other wildlife.

Day 5 Sepilok Orang Utan Center: In the morning, group can opt for a second boat cruise (own cost). Then we travel by local vans to Sepilok 90km 2hrs to visit the Orang Utan Rebah Center. one of only 4 in the World. The feeding platform starts at 230pm. We overnight in a guesthouse within walking distance from the Orang Utan Centre. 

Day 6 Sandakan & Home: We have a relaxing morning at the Guesthouse and make our way to Sandakan in the afternoon by the local bus. Sandakan has a vibrant good-sized fish market. After lunch at one of the local favourite seafood restaurants, we transfer to the Airport for our flight home on AK5193 departing 2105PM arriving LCCT 2345PM.

1. Cost covers the accommodation, meals on Mabul Island stay & buffet lunch on Mataking Island Resort, boat transfers, boat snorkeling trips and snorkel gear.
2. Cost does not cover airfares, airport taxes and meals off the Island.
3. A deposit of Rm500 is payable to confirm your place.
