Some members have suggested that I include this page on my website. Anyway here are some of the thank you notes that I have records of. Its arranged in chronological order. If you like to contribute, email me at yongo@streamyx.com.
When I was a little boy, I have always dreamed about traveling to Tibet. Thanks to YonGo Travel for finally fulfilled my childhood dream. I doubt any other travel companies in Malaysia can offer the same great services and arrangements as YonGo Travel. I would also like to say what a great tour leader of YonGo Travel, Captain Soh. I must highlight that he was excellent. I were so impressed with him. He was extremely pleasant, informative, funny, helpful, had a great personality and was great company. He never let the tour members down. Im very sure that you wont get this kind of tour leader in any other commercial tour in Malaysia beside YonGo travel. I’ll have no hesitation in recommending YonGo Travel to any of my friends and family members. YonGo Travel just simply the best. Thank you once again for the wonderful time I had in Tibet during the 2 weeks tour in May 2010.
Overall rating, I give a 10/10 to YonGo Travel for everything went very smoothly and excellent arrangement. All the accommodations were fine and also lots of useful reminders before the trip. 9.9/10 to YonGo travel’s tour leader – ‘Captain Soh’. (I would give a 10/10 if he a she,) Pachyin Lim, Perak Yongo Tibet May10
The Yongo Huangshan '10 is just wounderful.......great company......great laughter......great trekking and bicycling. I enjoy the trip all the way with you people company. Woon Wei Aik Huangshan Mac10
This tour is arranged by this company Yongo Travel. Their website is www.yongo.biz. The boss is Mr Yong Lee Min who led us in this tour. They specialise in semi-backpack adventure tours. They go to less familiar places like Bhutan, Sikkim, Morocco, Romania, Syria, etc. They go to India and China too, and in China they don't have those "enforced" shopping at the silk factories, jade factories, medicine shops, etc. PT should go to China with them. They have local adventure tours in Sabah and Sarawak too. And food is mostly on our own for Yongo Travel's tours. And I find this a big plus. We are at liberty to choose our own food during the trip. Choice of type, choice of price, choice of time. We can eat 2-minute instant mee for dinner too. Another plus point is good for those not proficient or slow in taking photos. At the end of the journey, the boss (Lee Min) and his assistant (Rachel) would download all their photos onto his laptop, and whoever wants these photos could just upload them into his or her thumb drives. Thumb drives are so cheap nowadays, an 8 GB type cost only around RM 50. So convenient.
Thank you, Lee Min and Rachel for the unforgettable experience. It won't be the last time we join your tour, that is sure.. Hon Too Fang Peru Bolivia Feb09Regret' would be the word that never appeared in my mind to join this trip. I agree with you that the big picture is the most impt. of all. Generally I did enjoy very much in my trip including sightseeing & food. Fisrtly, I think there were a good composition of many features in our tour, namely big cities, small towns, mountains, trekking, ice cave, salt mine, castles, prison camp ww2, barbecue in the cold, canoeing etc. All these features make up the important. part of an enjoyable tour, in addition to the friendship build-up among members. Besides, the time spent in each of the places was quite fine except that we might have stayed too long in Cesky Krumlov, probably coz of the last minute arrangement of the van. Some friction on the tour was unfortunate but it did not cause harm overall. But the last day of the hostel was lousy simply coz of one thing, It was too near to the road & my sleep was disturbed by the noises of the endless cars passing by. I suggest you change the hostel for the next batch. Lastly, thanks for including your great shots to me in the dvd, really appreciate & enjoy wacthing them, sweet memory. Welcome back Leemin from Eastern Europe. Rachel did an outstanding job. All of us had a wonderful time with her. All of us are still talking about the trip and some of the experience we had will stay in our memory for a long time. Wong Weng Hooi Sabah Jun07
Truly agreed, some of us are not really suited for this type of trip (my `girlfriend` nearly `pengsan`, and me panic like hell ) but overall we all had a wonderful time together. Thanks for the great your great itinerary and also not forgetting Rachel for being such a wonderful guide. We enjoyed Rachel company very much. Cheng Swee Tiang Sabah Jun07
Some of you may still be on holiday and some like me are back and hard at work. This is just to say HELLO and to inform that my husband and I enjoyed outselves very much. People play a very important part for such trip and ALL OF YOU WERE GREAT. I am now training and trying to keep myself fit to be ' TORTURED " for the next Yongo Trip. Hope to see all of you again. Judy Ho Pakistan China Silk Road Sep06Was really fun traveling with you and the rest of the gang. Since this is my 4th trip with Yongo, I honestly can't tell everyone which is the best group I've traveled with. Each one of us have our uniqueness individually and when we are together. Every trip for me was really good and each group really fun to travel with. However compared with regular tours by GTT or Reliance which I go with every Chinese New year holiday, we bonded much, much more. Can't remember well the fellow travelers on those trips, while I can immediately recall without prompting, at least half of the group members in each of the trips with Yongo; not counting the present. I've made new friends each trip and renewed friendship with some of us during this trip. Alvin/Mary, Aun Tiah, Lean Sim will know what I mean. Just as an indication of our bonding, I happen to send a photo from our recent trip to a fellow Yongo traveler from the NZ South Isle Nov2004 trip, and she replied that she and her sisters are planning to go on one of the Yongo China trips next year. So yes, I do look forward to traveling with each and everyone one of us again. Goh Seng Aun Silk Road Sep06
Looks like everyone had a GREAT GREAT time being "tortured" for 18 days. Excuse me!! someone commented that it is NOT the case but just a wonderful GREAT experience. Well that is the case for me, my first ever such trip and now I am really sucked into it. This trip is going to be a bench-mark for all my future trips. From the remarks from everyone this SILK ROAD trip is a trip hard to beat…. this is because of our fantastic tour leader Lee Min, the selection of places to stop, great choices of food !!!!#%*&#@..yum yum the MUTTON dishes #%##@&*?!%%#&#$& . Of course the main, the strongest and best reason for the success of this trip is the company that we had on this trip. DANIEL TEEN Silk Road Sep06
Greetings from down-under and my apology for this belated response. After a brief sojourn in Johore, I am now back in Brisbane and would like to thank you, Leemin and also my fellow intrepid travellers for a great experience on the Silk Road. Personally, I don't think there were any hick-ups to fret about and the group was simply marvellous to travel with; perhaps 17 days were a bit long for me and I was beginning to feel 'homesick' (strange for an old feller). It was a journey of discovery for me. ERNEST YOONG Silk Road Sep06 (stays in Australia)
As all the thank qs been floating around....well, Check & myself would like to put in a little input too. Lee Min...to compare the adventure with Yongo and our usual adventure with Intrepid - it was indeed beyond our expectation. Both Check and myself did enjoyed ourselves very much except for the occasional hiccups in your communication department. Apart from that, its good value - we had a reasonable accommodation, great choice of tracks and most of all the a fantastic group to travel with. Never in my wildest dream that I prefer to pee out in the open land, pines or tunnels than a choice of any toilet in China. Ah Goh Goh...thumbs up to you too...thanks for your assistance in making sure our luggages are all taken care off after boarding and descending the bus. Not to mention your analysis of most of the unusual junk food we consume. Indeed, its an educational trip as well as boosting our fitness in this trip. Erica, LK & Alvin....Many thanks to you guys for ordering our scrumptous meals. Without you guys, both Check and myself will just end up eating quak quak or chook chook siu chee of which there is no guarantee that it may end up niu row pow instead. and to all.....its really great knowing each and everyone of you in this trip. Till then, got to go for breaky now......nasi lemak, chow hor fun, curry laksa, rojak, yong tow foo.....yummmmmmmmmy! JASMINE TEEN & CHECK YEW Silk Road Sep06 (lives Sydney)
Thanks again for another great trip !!! I really enjoyed myself. QUAH SIOK CHIN Silk Road Sep06 (3rd Yongo Tripper)
I told my friends who asked about the trip that it has been very colorful. Indeed it has been but most of all for me was the traveler mates have been really wonderful. You guys have been selfless at most times, making light of things when they got tough, considerate, caring and generally great jokers. Myself have had many unique experiences (surely nothing beats having to pee in a row with other ladies beside a bus in the open highway… and many more such special cases which I shall keep to myself J ) and learnt a lot. Hats off to Lee Min and Goh for the leadership in this big group and I suppose at times pretty opinionated (saying for myself of course J ), to Jin for the excellent treasurer job, and to others for the great company and laughter. Am in the midst of organizing my photos and will be posting some of the better ones to the website, will share the link. One thing for sure is I would not hesitate to travel with you guys again! Of course hope have not been too much a pain in the --- myself to any of you. JENNY LAU CHAO MIN Silk Road Sep06
My comment for this trip, BEAUTIFUL and AN EYE OPENER trip…Heaven's Lake ….horse-riding thru the mountains……awesome ! Take a minute to flash back… Indeed, this will be one of my best memorable journey...and met with wonderful, hilarious & jovial people… Like echo by every one..the success was the company that we have on this trip. Hope we will meet again in future trips…. SEAN LEE Silk Road Sep06
This trip, no doubt, is not that easy for the 1st timer , especially for Lee Kuan, but a BIG thumbs up to her, she made it for the glacier walk - 4080m, is that right? no joke, ha!!! A big thank you to Jin and Lee Minnnnnn,,,,,, for your full support and encouragement to her with tears and joy!!! Your strength to cycle around with her on the marvellous bicycle, ha!!!! Lee Kuan, say something....!!??!! You better get a bicycle and practice cycling around Subang Jaya! Lee minnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, I missed calling you this name, sound nice, ha!!!! Anyway, thanks for organising this wonderful trip, oh yes, not to miss out Ah Goh-goh, thank you! I have learned a lot from you guys and the rest of you too! Who knows, we may go for another trip together in the years to come! Lee Kuan and myself will be glad to offer our service in terms of ordering food for you guys again, if it's in China again, ha!!!! Or else, Jasmine can order for you too, she is a good! ha!!! Don't be surprise, she will be fluent in Mandarin for the next China trip..... ERICA ONG SIEW HONG Silk Road Sep06
Sally and Jackie, appreciate if you can send me some photos of the downhill climb of Table Mountain as I have difficulty in taking out my camera let alone take any picture but the trip down is really a first and I think will be a once in a life time experience for me. ANNIE LAM Cape Town Aug06
Well the Pakistan trip provided me a very enriching experience. In many ways it had more spectacular sights to offer, geographically, culturally and historically compared to Himalaya India. The India trip was wonderful too because it released our adrenalin due to all the trekking. The ancient stupas and monasteries on the mountain cliffs were amazing. On both trips I would say you managed to rope in very easy going, accomodating as well as interesting members. Some characters are very colourful and unforgetable like Otto and Yazmi. SHIRLEY OON Pakistan May06 (Second Yongo Tripper)
With 2 guys and 9 ladies, I went to Doha ( transit 6 hours ) Syria ( 13 days ) and Beirut ( 2 nights ) from 8 th to 22 nd May 2006. Beirut is a beautiful and modern country where we visited many beautiful churches and mosques. We did not feel unsafe at all walking around the city, day or night, in fact the people are very friendly. This now completely changed. HOW SAD ! XAVIER GOH May06 4th trip
It had been a fabulous 2 weeks; good trek, breathtaking scenery, fine weather (other than the first 2 days), great travelling companions – what more could one ask for except to scout for another trip with YONGO! LEE ENG CHEOW Yunnan Mar 06
Thanks you all so much for being such great company thoughout the trip, our journey could not have been so colourful and fun without each and everyone of you. Thanks, Lee Min, for organising the trip and sending us the contact list of group. Hope we will all stay touch. This was my first time visiting real kampong in rural China, it was quite a fascinating experience. I had a good time all the way eventhough my less than 'iron-cast' stomach gave me some problem occassionally. Nevertheless, I am thankful that we had a safe and wonderful holiday. BEH LIP AUN Guizhou 05
I think the highlight of the trip was the group spirit we all had. Thanks esp to Saw Hoon for being the Good Samaritan of the trip, to Auntie Ah Lan for the food supplies, to Chin Fah for doing the food ordering and translations, to Yazmi for being the emcee and livewire, to Beatle for translating and being "colourful" and to all of you for making this a memorable trip. BTW, I'd like to open this one up for discussion. What do you think was the Best Joke of the trip? Yazmi's Yongo SELF-discovery tour? Beatle's piss stops? ANDREW SIA Guizhou 05
The GuiZhou Trip 2006 was great. It is one the most beautiful BIG PICTURE that I had chance in "jointly painting" it! "Sie-Sie" to Yongo for engineering such an interesting project and to the J-19 for spicing up its flavours ! Wonder whether LeeMin has ever had a group that so crazily clicks ....?! Kamsiah to Boss LeeMin for the prompt production of the GuiZhou Snapshots CD & to Andrew for the write-up ( shall try to mail you some of the trip details including the song sang by the friendly waitresses of Tiang-Loong-Tun-Pao & the proverb of the "bitter plant" ). KOAY SAW HOON Guizhou 05
i would like to thank everyone for making this a wonderful and memorable trip despite it has been claimed to be a "self -discovery-tour with no extra charge" (copyrighted: Yazmi) and i feel is the 2nd best part of the trip. of course the "planned tour" is as enjoyable as well (thnx Lee Min) the best part of the trip is, of course YOU!! . i thoroughly enjoy the good spirit, comradeship and humour we all had throughout the journey. hope we meet again in future trips! POON YEW LEONG (ylpoon@gmail.com) Guizhou 05
i agree with the rest it was a wonderful holiday and the group "gelled" rather nicely. thank you to all of you, and thanks for putting up with me. lee ming, once again i wish to thank you for the effort . i certanily enjoyed myself.i am still hoping to join one of your trips later this year. YAP CHIN FAH (Guizhou 05)
Soook Sabdai !!!!!!! ( Harloooww..... in Khmer language ) Thanks for making this trip an enjoyable and memorable one... full of laughter, fun and friendship...... I admire each and everyone of you for your uniqueness and for helping the Cambodian economy...( special thanks to Jayavalli and Asiah ) I appreciate those people who "advertise" North Face back-pack willingly for free... ( errr..couple from Klang, some teenagers and a girl from Miri ) and those who support the quest of knowledge... ( this is specially dedicated to buyers of them pirated books... ) , the planet is lonely without you... Finally,... the gourmet in all of us for having the courage to try amok fish, snake fish, local delicasy plus the man with iron stomach.. lee Min.. who taught us .. ( somhow we always never learn ) to eat in hot, grimy, dark places where the food is delicious. and dirt cheap . ( where the no choice poor cambodian eat )... hee hee. Oui Khooon ( thank you) p/s.. keep in touch... love to travel with you'all anytime.. !!! YAZMI ABU BAKAR ( Yazmi.Abu-Bakar@Shell.com) Angkor Feb06
Lee Min, we have to thank you for the wonderful trip you gave us. We had very good sight-seeing.The tour guides were knowledgeable and they were very helpful. We enjoyed the shopping, I and Asiah shopped till we nearly dropped!! The people in our group were friendly and adventurous folks, all fully motivated to conquer the Angkor Wat and with the team-work we did it! Looking forward for more trips, perhaps to Myanmar..........or somewhere else.. JAYA (jayavalli.pillay@citigroup.com) Angkor Feb06
It has indeed been a nice trip even though we had to endure some of the cold temperatures (and perpetual running nose!). The scenery was well worth it and it now makes me think if I really want to join further commercial trips despite the convenience of modern toilets... ;-)
TEE WAN (teewan@tm.net.my) Yunnan Nov05We always wanted to do more….see more……have more time for taking photos…etc then we joined yongo trips. But must be fit and be prepared to carry own backpacks and be able to walk for several hours. My wife and I have traveled with yongo to China Silk Road, Three Georges, Zhangjiajie, Yunnan for a total of 45 days. We are going for more trip while we can. Yongo will deliver the transportations, accommodation and traveling arrangement and the rest is for us to enjoy ourselves. EDWARD & VALUKA (hing-yong.edward.choo@pfizer.com) last trip Yunnan Nov05
I would like to thanks all of yours for the enjoyable time that we had spent / shared during the whole journey and i am very much enjoy all of your companion (especially my dearest room mate, Jean and not forgeting our mummy & daughter team, Boh Seng and Leng Lei). After seeing & experienced some of the local (Yunnan or Hanoi) life style, i personally feel that this trip has taught me not to take thing as granted in life and everyone must tried to live their life in the most happiness and should be more appreciating life, no matter in whatever condition. WENDY LOH ( wendy.loh@gleneaglesintan.com.my) Pakistan China Silk Road Oct05Thank you for a very challenging (in terms of the long distances covered) & interesting non run - of-the mill tour. I had a ball in Pakistan and despite retracing a route I did in Xinjiang in 94, I was delighted to see how fast and far Turpan and Urumqi has grown for the better. The hotels were better than I had expected from a backpacking tour although it would have been nice if the Pakis and Chinese had better toilet keeping standards!! They have not changed at all since my last visits to both countries!! Being a hotelier in the US, of course I tend to view the global competition with a critical beady eye! hahaha. Love to get the email list of all my co travellers. They are a great bunch to travel with and it contributed to lots of fun.. especially our morning renditions as the Jiwei Pakistan choir! SUN MAY LIN (jamac14@yahoo.com) Pakistan China Silk Road Oct05
Thanks for the email. I had a very good time on the whole, and would not have missed this trip---saw some great places, made some very good friend, and chalked up some personal memorable achievements. So thanks for putting together this trip, and let me know when your next trip is planned. KHOO SIEW MUN (khoosiewmun@yahoo.com) Pakistan China Silk Road Oct05
No matter what had happened, we had a good experience for the 'Incredible India'! The food was good. I miss the 'cai' & the 'morning call' by the camping crew. Mahinder & team were great. The admiration I have for the crew in guarding our lives and paths is a wonder to behold. The scenery was wonderful although we miss the other side of Bhapa pass. There is no regret. Hmmm.. by the looks of things and good vibes... in my humble opinion it was a succesful trip, .....in terms of duration, places of visit, the tour guide, hotel rooms etc. Hope that what suggestions and feedback received would make this tour the "must go" trip of yours... Thanks a zillion for the CD. It was a terrific trip..
every bit of the scenery was a pure KODAK moment.
Everyone in the group was good company. No fusspots
and no trouble makers.
Sun May Lin (jamac14@yahoo.com) Pakistan China Silk Road Oct04Well is good to hear that you are planning to visit NZ. Frankly, the NZ trip was my first trip with Yongo & i will only able to share with you that please start your training earlier (may be about 3 - 4 months before the trip, especially try to do some regular walking on the slope, ie. at Bukit Kiara or Bukit Gasing instead of normal garden walk) . But remember to get a good shoe & backpack set. Although, i was having some difficulty during the Milford Trek (due to having foot blister) but i still enjoy very much on the trek. Overall, it is a 'thumb up' wonderful trip (especially the Milford Trek)and very highly recommended. JANICE GOH (jg_freeway@yahoo.com) NZ & Milford Track Nov04
We (me and Sherly) enjoyed the trip overall. Especially the activities... bungy, jet boat.... Too bad had to give the water rafting a miss. Partly due to bad weather and costs. We will try it next time somewhere else. NZ is a nice place for adventure sport, and being with nature. Amazed by the clean water everywhere we went. Lots of photo opportunities... too bad I am not photographer material. We get maybe half dozen good photos in 400++ photos. Plenty of good cafes too.... got 2 of us hooked on coffee. Even considering opening a cafe. btw, we found a nice NZ cafe in 1 Utama. Its called Robert Haris cafe. Go there if you all miss NZ. TOH BOON KEONG (Boon.Keong.Toh@logicacmg.com) NZ North South Mar05
Wow, I must take my hat off you, Lee Min. Do you ever get tired? Still springing about after one month in SA? I don't know about the rest of you, I am feeling really tired now that I'm home. Thanks a lot for the wonderful time we had during the whole trip. I must say it was better than I expected, despite the little hiccups occasionally. Anyway, the fun was more!!
